Excited base? (McCain thread)
This is good. Barack Obama will raise about 10 million dollars between the end of Sarah Palin's speech last night and the beginning of John McCain's speech tonight. John McCain, on the other hand, has raised about 1 million dollars through the Republican National Convention. So who did Palin get fired up? ******* I am not sure how much blogging I will do about John McCain tonight. But I did just hear Joe Gibbs claim that McCain and Palin would lead a new spiritual revival in this country. Seriously? Okay - I lied. I have some McCain speech thoughts below the fold. ******* Well... McCain is about to speak - this should be fun. Nice video - did you know that John McCain was a P.O.W.? Remember, John McCain will not his military service for political aims. A note to Obama supporters - we have your respect? I appreciate the sentiment, but then why do you keep running such a negative campaign? Heh... the protester are fun! Sarah Palin is definitely getting more cheers than McCain is getting. "I have been called a maverick." It doesn't matter if it is not true, as long as people call me it! Heh... he is talking about pork spending, ignoring the fact that Palin and Alaska received some of the biggest pork appropriations. By the way, the screen behind McCain is annoying. First is was an awful green color, and not is is blue. Wow... John McCain is attacking Barack Obama for corporate welfare? Seriously? "Don't legislate from the bench." Unless you are legislating in conservative ways. Huh? Did John McCain just say Obama's healthcare plan would place a bureaucrat between you and your doctor? Really? That is a BLATANT LIE. I am very bored. That is because this speech is very boring. Sarah Palin was wrong about a lot of things, and lied about a lot of things, but at least she was interesting. John McCain is incredibly boring. "Again, it is time to show the world how American's lead." Really? How will you be any different than what George Bush has been? He has worked in two attacks on unions so far. Nice. So much for Palin's union member husband, eh? The crowd is not into this speech at all. The applause feels forced. There is very little energy, from McCain OR the crowd. This is really falling flat. I think the audience is wondering if they can nominate Sarah Palin for President rather than John McCain. Wow... McCain just gave a long commentary about his P.O.W. experience and military experience. Remember when I reminded you at the beginning of this thread about McCain saying he would not use his military service as a political tool? The crowd did finally start to get into the speech with the P.O.W. stuff. And McCain actually showed some energy. McCain did somewhat lay out what he would do, though he also did not give any details. Anyone think that the Right will complain about that? Again, this is not the place for detailed policy proposals, and I am okay with that. But I do not expect the Right to be consistent about it. What a bore. I do not know what else to say.
