Fireworks
Just a quick comment. While fireworks kinda' look cool, they are a complete waste of money, especially when you consider that most municipalities in this country are struggling financially in the awful economic climate we are living in. Why should we be okay with cities spending thousands and thousands of dollars on some colorful explosions while they are laying off workers and cutting hours for their employees? Why should we be okay with cities spending thousands and thousands of dollars on some colorful explosions while they are cutting services to their residences? Or while they are unable to make payroll? Or while they are going into debt for these colorful explosions? What a waste... P.S. Yes... I did watch fireworks last night. Comments, Pingbacks:
Where I live, the city doesn't spend any money on fireworks. The fireworks, parade, etc. are all paid for by private donations.
...this is especially true considering the spectacular displays of bandit and illegal fireworks that go on anyway...
I'm not crazy about fireworks because they're all about celebrating "the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air."
It's like cheering weaponry. I know few people look at it like that, and so I don't object to the displays happening or people going to them. But for me to go to them when I realize this about them would be just wrong. But I did think about inviting some new immigrants to go to the fireworks because it's a tradition of their new country. I've decided not to. Leave a comment:
