Young, evangelical ... for Obama?
Are young evangelicals really leaving the Republican Party? Young, evangelical ... for Obama? There have been many articles pointing the "exodus" of young evangelicals from the GOP, but I do not see it. Take a look at these numbers from the above article:
So only 15% young white evangelicals say they no longer identify with the GOP? And only 5% have "joined the Democrats"? While the move away from the GOP by a few is better than no move at all, it does not seem that there is a mass exodus from the party either. Comments, Pingbacks:
One thing about the stats at least is that looking at the number of 20 somethings who actually were "affiliated" in the first place. I think it is something like 5-10% of this age group that actually votes. As for me I remember when I knew nothing as a young twenty something. That meant I voted for the "Christian" president. Now that I'm older, and after the first fiasco, I voted the other way. I'm still not democrat. I prefer to keep my allegiances to the issues and not the party.
Give these young bucks some time to get out of their Christian rock and Christian movie sub-world and they'll come around...at least some of them. You and I had a friend who did not come around until he was thirty something...I am finding more and more of those, who now have young children that will vote without allegiance or for a different party than the Christians voted for previously.
