Happy Military Day
Most people think that today, April 15th, is Tax Day. And I guess it is. But I call it Military Day. Why? Take a look at this chart, from here: ![]() Yup... over half the money I just sent to the Federal Government goes to wars, weapons development, previous wars, military personnel, and other related military expenses. So as sad and depressing as it is to send that money in to the government, it makes it MUCH more sad and depressing to realize where this money is going. Comments, Pingbacks:
yikes. and i was have a semi-good day. that's just depressing.
And yet, when you hear Republicans talk about "cutting government spending," which parts of the budget do they want to cut?
3 words: research and development.
Not that I agree wholeheartedly with how much is spent... but where you're going spells bad news in big bold capital letters. republicans baaaad! democrats gooood! *rolls eyes* Where's the substance these days? republicans baaaad! democrats gooood!Bullshit. That is not what I said, and that is not what I implied. Republicans bad. Democrats bad. Both have bought into the military-industrial complex. This post has nothing to do with either party. It has to do with the sad state of this nation's priorities, which is clearly shown in the way that it spends its money.
Your solution is just bitching about it?
True Majority does a fine simpleton job of shaving a fraction of our spending and giving a portion to healthcare and education. As stated before, what you desire would spell disaster for the military and our national defense. Remember, you're supporting Obama who has openly stated he'd go into Pakistan hunting for Al Qaeda. Meh, where's the substance Dave? Your solution is just bitching about it?My solution would be to spend a lot less on military, which neither party is willing to do right now. As stated before, what you desire would spell disaster for the military and our national defense.Again... bullshit. Do you realize how much this country spends on the military compared to the rest of the world? You know what spells disaster for the US military and US national defense? Stupid foreign policy. From both parties. Remember, you're supporting Obama who has openly stated he'd go into Pakistan hunting for Al Qaeda.I know exactly who I am supporting for President, but that does not mean that I support everything that he supports, and you know it. There are many things that I disagree with Obama on. Some his foreign policy falls into that category.
Do I realize how much the US spends on the military?
Are you retarded? You don't think I follow our inane foreign policy? I live with it you wanker. But you, you live in a dream world. Wake up. *yawns*
Gringo... you are the one who said that cutting military spending would "spell disaster for the military and our national defense."
And I think that is bullshit. You want to make this about you, and it is not about you. It is about the priorities of this country being out of whack. It is about the fact that the United States spends more on the military than all but one country in the world... combined. And that one - the UK - spends a fraction of what the U.S. spends. This country could easily cut military spending significantly without spelling "disaster for the military and our national defense." But yea... I will keep dreaming while you think that it is necessary to spend such absurd amounts of money on the military.
Gringo,
How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you are so abrasive?
No no no no, what I implied... and any intelligentl reader could identify was that if "you" had "your" way, we'd be in for it. By your words of "significant"... holy. fucking. shit. All of us better be fucking scared - it's not a fucking thing to just throw around and "oh, it's that easy." BS.
Yes, military spending should be cut... but not as far as you'd have it. Besides, you were scant on details. Very scant. As for being abrasive, I find myself more often getting annoyed by those who froth at the mouth day in and day out about how things should be. This, that and the other. It's whining and bitching. No, it's not about me Dave. You just say some pretty fucking retarded things. Why am I abrasive, for emphasis and to drive the point home when no one else will. You say dumb things. Go ahead, cry, get offended, and then get some thick skin. And about me? No, hands down you do *not* know what it's like nor will you ever ever in a life time. It's not easy. So, you can wake up or live in a dream world. I don't give a shit, you won't hurt my feelings but just know you sound no different than those frothing from the mouth on the far right. It's noise and an annoyance. It's a nuissance, bothersome... makes folks want to throw up and just forget it. Can't say I blame them either. Find a middle ground and go with it... you're not. About me? wtf, are you retarded? any intelligentl [sic] reader could identify was that if "you" had "your" way, we'd be in for it.Really? And what is my way Gringo? You do realize that the U.S. could cut is military spending "significantly" and still "significantly" outspend everyone else in the world, right? All of us better be fucking scared - it's not a fucking thing to just throw around and "oh, it's that easy."You know, normally when you put quotes around something it means someone said it. And I never, ever said that cutting military spending would be "that easy." Did I? No, it's not about me Dave.Well... glad you got that down, because for some reason you want to make every conversation about you instead of the actual issue. Go ahead, cry, get offended, and then get some thick skin. You think pretty highly of yourself and your opinions if you think that they offend me and make me cry. Thick skin? You are the one turning this into a personal argument, not me. No, hands down you do *not* know what it's like nor will you ever ever in a life time. It's not easy.Once again... keep pretending I am saying things that I am not saying. I never said anything about knowing "what it's like" nor did I ever say it is easy. I am not talking about what it is like to be you. I am not talking about what it is like about to be in the military. I am talking about how this nation spends WAY too much money on military related spending. If you disagree with that, tell me why, instead of just getting angry and taking it personally. just know you sound no different than those frothing from the mouth on the far right.Yea... I hear a lot of people on the far right mentioning the absurdity of this country's military spending. Find a middle ground and go with it... you're not.I do not want a middle ground. That is not what I am about. I will call out things that I disagree with. I do not want to say, "I disagree with that, so lets make it a little better so that I still disagree with that." Middle grounds make for good politics and bad policy. And you ask for details and substance, yet you just spout emotional crap. This post wasn't about a solution to military spending. This post was a simple commentary on the ridiculous amounts of money that is spent on the military in this country. I am not sure why you are offended by me posting facts, on Tax Day, about where our tax money goes.
"you say some pretty f*cking retarded things" golly, listen to what this person has to say or be verbally abraised
The only one even attempting to make this personal is you.
It's not personal for me in any way shape or form. Go ahead, keep saying it, thinking it... but it's just not true. These are words upon a screen. I just think you say stupid stuff sometimes and I know exactly what you mean when you say cut military spending. Scares the willies out of me so there you have it. Fact is, I think you're pretty naive about national defense and don't consider military ops much (if at all). It's not a dream world. Where we disagree and your statement is pretty much implied, is how much should be cut. I have a good idea where you're headed - *bad news*. And please please please, stop with the utter bs of me being offended, taking stuff personally... that's bs and you know it. Where you conjure this up is dumb and you only do so (it seems) to marginalize my opinion vs. yours. It was never about "me" you retard, it was about the very military that you just don't seem to think about. No, I don't think you know what you're talking about. "Once again... keep pretending I am saying things that I am not saying." Take your own advice for once. Leave a comment:
