Last night was the last night of my Crime, Justice, and Inequality class, and once again an interesting assertion was given. Several different classmates stated that a male cannot truly be a feminist and think/act through a feminist perspective. The professor stated that there was research to support this, but I have not looked for it yet (though I plan on it). The same question then arrises in other areas. For example, can a white person truly be a civil rights activist? Can a rich/wealthy person truly be a Marxist?

I am curious what some of you think - especially my female readers. Can a male truly be a feminist? Can you truly believe in an ideology that represents something/someone that is different than you?
