95/10
Democrats for Life have proposed new legislation that they say would reduce the number of abortion by 95 percent over the next ten years: The proposal, which the group calls the "95-10 initiative", is "a comprehensive proposal of 15 different policy programs that, when fully funded and implemented in coordination with each other" will tackle many of the issues facing pregnant mothers. You can read the proposal over at Democrats for Life. This seems like it could be a great piece of legislation...if it actually worked. It actually could be something that the pro-choice side would support (because it would keep abortion legal), yet would lead to the all important goal of reducing abortions. I can already see that one of the biggest hurdles will be this:
But should that really be a hang up? Is this what we want? To reduce abortions as much as possible? As I have said several times, I do not expect abortion to made illegal any time soon, if ever. But I do think that the number of abortions can be greatly reduced. This bill could be worth "fighting" for. Pingbacks:No Pingbacks for this post yet...
