Last week, around 10:00 I happened to check the history of the posts in the homosexual marriage discussion and saw that Ron had started to read them. I was like, "what the hell, no one ever reads this conference". I thought that same thing when Megan and martin started to chime in. So, I started to get a little worried, being that the nature of the conversation was a bit controversial and that Megan and Martin were not happy about me having this dialog. so, of course, about a half hour later, Ron walks in and Brian (the director of Facilities) asks me to come in his office. I was told that someone had alerted him of the conversation going on BUBBS, and that he (Ron) had some concerns. and then he pulled out a printed copy of my BUBBS resume. They drilled me about the homosexuality thing for a while, and I told them that I was not arguing about the theology of homosexuality, but the legal ramifications of making homosexuality illegal (as I clearly stated in the conference). I told them that I was not sure if it was a sin at this time, but that as of right now I would say it is a sin, but no greater of a sin than anything else (though I am not sure if I even believe it is a sin, but I had to protect myself). Amazingly, they were okay with what I said about homosexuality. They essentially said that they can see that perspective, and that I just need to be careful about what I say, and be very clear in what I say. Though, they were very clear in saying that Biola does not accept homosexuality, and it is very much against what Biola stands for.

Then....

He dropped a bomb on me that I was not expecting. "so, in your resume you say that Bible contains mythology". I was shocked. that was the last thing that I was worried about. Ron said that believing that the bible contained mythology went against the Biola Doctrinal statement. So they asked me about it a little, told me that I had to remove it from my resume (and the comment that said "I support homosexual marriage). Then he asked if I thought the mythology concept went against the doctrinal statement, and I said no. than he told me that I need to read over the doctrinal statement and think about if I can really say that yes, i believe it, because if I do not, then I can no longer work at Biola. I told him yes today, and he was cool with it.

Throughout the whole thing I kept getting told that I was staff and was held to a higher standard, and that students looked up to me. I wanted to say, “What? Then they need to get a new role model.” and if they did look up to me, maybe they can learn something from outside the bubble. I swear, this is a college university, and academic institution, that is supposed to promote learning for yourselves - not believe everything that is taught to you. If people cannot filter through ideas on their own, then they should not be at a college institution.

Anyway, so I have been told to be careful on BUBBS, and be very clear, and to not say things that go against the doctrinal statement.
